Check out some of our friends:
Organizations:
The Northern
California Bluegrass Society will tell you everything you need
to know about bluegrass in SF (their calendar rocks!).
The SF Bluegrass
& Old Time Festival is getting ready for it's third year!
iBluegrass.com
is a great source for bands, schedules, and other random info.
The Music Motel,
our pal Mike Hall's new Americana website, is your central location
for music, instruments, gear and more.
Clubs/Bars:
The
Plough & Stars serves up some of the best Guinness in the
city, and bluegrass once or twice a month.
12 Galaxies -
SF's coolest new rock club also features Bluegrass!
Publications:
The Northwest
Bluegrass News is a British bluegrass website by Belle's Dad
Derek. Check it out for great articles, interview, tabs and more!
Websites:
Belle Monroe's own slice
of the cyberpie.
Jordan Klein
is certainly our favorite online Blog featuring our very own banjo
picker / liberal political pundit.
WorldWideTed.com
is the web based home of mandolin picker Ted Silverman featuring
music, photos, music, bands, news, journalism and music.
Did we
mention music?
Bands:
The Shut-ins
will give you more acoustic roots music than you can handle.
Ho'Down Quartet
is another San Francisco acoustic band that, like us, features a
banjo player with an afro.
Jeanie &
Chuck's Country Roundup - Acoustic honky tonk, bluegrass and
old-time favorites from some of San Francisco's best traditionalists.
Check them out - as they feature our own Diana Greenberg on fiddle.
Jimbo Trout
is another local picker and promoter. Watch out for that banjo of
his, it's lethal!
Jarod Karol
is a terrific ragtime fingerstyle guitarist / singer-songwriter
who Ted plays mandolin and bass with.
The Bastard
Brothers play a particularly smarmy style of dramatic bluegrass
music wherein nothing is sacred - yet nothing is all that profane
either.
Festivals:
The Strawberry
Music Festival might just be the greatest music festival that
California has to offer.
RockyGrass
is one of the best we know of. It's run by PlanetBluegrass and if
you have the time, they've got a fantastic Aademy and Festival!
Music:
Our Live Archive: mp3s of the Brewglass Boys performing LIVE.
For those of you curious enough to have found this remote cache
in our little corner of the Web.
